Home learning – general information
During this unprecedented period of school closure, please work with us to continue your child’s learning. This period could last for some months, so it is important to get into a routine as soon as possible.
Every child has been given a paper-based pack of activities to help get them started.
We are currently building home learning pages for each year group within this section of our website. Please be patient whilst these are under development. They will be updated regularly.
We intend to contact every family at least weekly to discuss your child’s learning.
There are many useful websites to support your child’s learning.
Our main learning platform will be dbprimary. Any work your child does here can be seen by staff and feedback given.
All children have their own username and password. Teachers will be regularly keeping their year group pages up to date with learning for your child. Many of the websites links below will be on the db page.
The BBC has produced a series of Bitesize Lesson for all year groups. They can be found at bbc.co.uk/bitesize and no log-in is required.
Oak Academy has also produced lessons for all year groups. They can be found at thenational.academy/online-classroom .
Sometimes your teacher will suggest particular lessons from these resources. This will be flagged up in DB Primary.
Espresso – all areas of learning

In school we use numberfun songs to help children learn some maths facts. Parents have been given free access to 30 days of the parent number fun portal
All children from Reception to Y2 can practise their phonics and reading skills via the above interactive game. All children have their own unique log on details which have been sent home in a letter on 18/03/20.
Additionally, all children have been given reading books to take home with them as part of their home learning pack.
Children from YR – Y6 have been given the list of spellings that children need to have learnt by the end of the year to take home, practice and learn.
Children can also access several online books via a link to World eBooks which is on every class DB page. Please bear in mind that whilst the books on the link are aimed at children, it is still your responsibility for determining which material you are happy for them to view.
Children can also access books and quizzes that have been assigned to them by their class teacher via the above link, which is also on your child’s DB page.
Audible are making a wide range of stories available free of charge during the school closure period. They can be accessed at stories.audible.com No log-in is required.
Home learning for children with Special Educational Needs
Tasks for children with SEN will be individually tailored within DB Primary. We will be contacting parents of children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) to discuss and develop an individual programme that is focused on the needs and targets set out in the EHCP.
